PRACTITIONER & OWNER

BRANDON MCCAIN

As a product of my own success story through Functional Patterns, I understand what it’s like to live with chronic pain and the importance of finding what works to help you live a pain-free life again. My chronic pain stemmed from my adolescent years while skateboarding. I remember the worst fall I ever took was when performing a skateboard trick called a 50/50 down an eight-set staircase handrail. It started off magical as I jumped, caught the top of the rail, and began my plunge down the galvanized steel pipe. That moment quickly came to an end as I began to lose balance and fall, catching myself with my spine as I landed directly on the rail. This is just one example of various injuries like these being what led me to chronic pain in early adulthood. I suffered form lower back pain, neck pain, and knee pain for years and within the first two months of training exclusively Functional Patterns methods all the chronic pain disappeared. A year goes by and born imbalances such as my “sway back” began to hold correction. I thought to myself “Finally!” the search is over, I have found the answer I had been searching for.

I did not end up at Functional Patterns directly though, my journey towards a pain-free life led me through massage therapy for five years and personal training for two which led me to Functional Patterns. In pursuit to solving problems during my massage career I was always learning new techniques like structural deep tissue, myofascial release, active release, pre natal, and sports specific, but none of these techniques yielded long term client improvement. This is where Functional Patterns comes in. Functional Patterns trains human based on their biological characteristics which is something that makes us stand out because it extends outside of the gym into your daily life. For example, I use this in walking, running, kickboxing, and any other recreational activity that involves movement. I can tell you personally that the path toward self-empowerment and physical wellbeing is not an easy one. It requires breaking down mental barriers, self-acceptance, self-perseverance, dedication, and constant practice both in the gym and daily life to achieve the feeling of living pain-free again. My ultimate goal as one of the founding practitioners of Functional Patterns Texas is to functionally walk this journey with you, so that together we can help you become a product of your own success story. With knowledge and understanding of human biomechanics, you too can learn what is it takes to live pain-free again.
